What is iolite?
iolite (say “eye-oh-lite”) is a blue-violet gemstone. According to legend, Viking navigators used it to find the sun when clouds obscured visibility, which earned it the name Viking Compass.
Operators of critical infrastructure work in conditions that hide the way, too. iolite shows them what is on their network, what normal looks like, and when something changes, so a small deviation does not become a disruption.
